Laurel “Lo” Friesen is the Founder, CEO, and Chief Extractor of Heylo, a science-driven cannabis company redefining how people use cannabis to live better, fuller lives. With a background in Environmental Chemistry from Northwestern University and published research in gastroenterology, Lo brings a rare blend of scientific rigor and human-centered curiosity to the industry.
She began her cannabis career in 2015, leading R&D at Eden Labs, where she worked on next-generation CO₂ extraction technology. In 2017, she founded Heylo in Washington State with a mission rooted in education, transparency, and intentional use. Heylo developed the brands Treehaus and Yolo and was named Best Overall Company by Leafly.
Raised in Northeast Ohio, Lo is now expanding her cannabis brands to her home state as a family-business under the name Cielo Jardin. Cielo Jardin is growing and selling Treehaus flower and vapes, and opening a retail store under the name CJ's in 2026.
