Lo Friesen is the Founder and CEO of Heylo, a Seattle-based, multi-state cannabis company known for its leading-edge chemistry in vapes and topicals. After earning a degree in Chemistry from Northwestern University, Lo began her career in medical research at Northwestern Memorial Hospital’s gastroenterology lab. That experience sparked her passion to explore cannabis as medicine and ultimately drew her into the emerging industry in 2015.

In 2017, Lo launched Heylo with a clear mission: to help people get more out of life with cannabis. What started as a small, minority-owned, bootstrapped business in one of the most competitive markets in the country has grown into a thriving company with multiple brands—Heylo, Treehaus, and Yolo—and more than five years of consistent growth and innovation.

When Ohio passed HB523, Lo and her family jumped at the chance to bring their vision to her home state. Together, they built their cultivation and processing facility from the ground up, and in January 2025 launched Treehaus to proudly serve the Ohio cannabis community with products rooted in family values and integrity. Beyond the business, Lo’s personal mission is to inspire active, engaged, and joyful lifestyles with cannabis. She is deeply committed to education and community-building, while also finding balance on the beach volleyball court, the golf course, and in the outdoors with her husband and two young sons.
