Todd Johnson is the Executive Director of the New Jersey Cannabis Trade Association (NJCTA), a leading industry voice on the complex matters impacting New Jersey's legal cannabis industry that is comprised of the state's permitted medical and adult-use operators.
Todd served as Treasurer of the NJCTA since its inception in 2020. He oversaw expenditures and maintained a balanced budget at a time when the association was deeply immersed in outreach to educate state legislators, regulators and the public on the policies needed to build the state's legal cannabis market into an equitable and profitable industry. He also utilized his passion for the industry by providing testimony in support of legislation created to move the industry forward.
Todd previously served as an NJCTA trustee on behalf of member Justice Cannabis Co., a multi-state operator in eight states. There, Todd served as executive vice president and head of New Jersey operations and oversaw the buildout and operations of the company’s New Jersey cultivation facility and dispensaries. On the regulatory side, Todd served as Justice's point of contact for compliance and communication with the New Jersey Department of Health, and the New Jersey Cannabis Regulatory Commission. Todd was also responsible for the hiring and training of cultivation, finished product, inventory, security and dispensary team members.
Todd is a co-founder of Community Greenhouse, a mission-driven cannabis company and a co-founder and trustee of Community Exposure to Opportunity (CEO), a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization focused on youth education via S.T.E.A.M. curriculum in underserved communities of color.
Prior to his career in cannabis, Todd worked in the finance industry, where he started as an institutional trader and later assisted investment managers in performing market due diligence via insight networking. For nearly 16 years, Todd worked at Gerson Lehrman Group, the pioneer in the investment expert network platform space, and helped grow the company from $10 million in revenue and 40 employees in 2002 to over $350 million in revenue and 1,800 employees in 2018.
Todd graduated from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Science in Economics with concentrations in finance and management.
